The scary blue ones

This is going to be a bit random, but I've officially added the blue AVATAR characters to my mental list of things that gross me out. To those who know me, I am quite notoriously known for this list. :/

This list has stopped growing for a very long time actually, but the arrival of this movie has inadvertently caused the addition. Gah. (So embarassing! They're just movie characters!)

Anyway, I find the characters oddly human-like and quite realistic in a certain way, which scares me. Their shade of marble-ish blue was appalling, horrifying and overly dramatic, if you ask me.
And their feelings were scarily human-like although they are alien-like. :/

Unbeknownst to my friends, I became slightly faint-hearted when I heard about the USB-like ways in which the blue characters communicate. It was amusing at first, but yeah, the image of them characters doing that in my head was one heck of an ugly one.

As much as I quite like the theme song by Leona Lewis, every time I looked at the screen and I see the characters, I had to look away.

Personally, I haven't watch the movie but I've gotten mixed reviews from my friends who have. They ranged from "Boring, I couldn't wait for it to finish", to "Good, I wouldn't mind catching it again in 3D." Jo Yin even likened the storyline to Pocahontas, which I loved as a little girl. NO......... (in denial)

All in all, I got mostly flat, nonchalant feedbacks. Nothing spectacular.

However, I was really surprised to find that much of the World disagreed with me, as Avatar has already "sunk" one of the greatest movies of all time, Titanic, which coincidentally, shares the same Director as Avatar. Gotta salute that James Cameron. I think he is the only Director in history to have ever enjoyed such smashing success.

So to those of you who rave incessantly about this movie, graphics, theme, and all, I'm sorry I have to beg to differ. There're many out there who do not share my sentiments, but I guess I'm entitled to my own opinion. At the very least.

Painting KL red

All HEAVEN broke lose after I handed in my Company assignment.

:)

And it came in the form of retail therapy! Though I didn't buy much, it was a great relief and break away from the hectic week I had.

Have I mentioned that assignments are totally "HEALTHY" for your mind and body? Hope you catch what I mean, not literally, mind you.

Anyway, HUIXIN was in KL last Friday! The timing was absolutely perfect as Friday was the day I handed in my assignment. Clever clever.

This time, she brought along Sooi Pheng, her new housemate, whom I didn't get to meet the last time I went to Kampar for a short stay.

So I headed to KL Sentral right after class to wait for her train to arrive from Kampar.

The train was delayed by about 3o mins or longer. They were scheduled to leave KL on the same day using the 6p.m. train. So they had roughly about 5 hours plus in KL only. I was worried at first, that they will not be able to accomplish much in such a short period of time, what with the number of places we had in mind.

Anyway, I was proven wrong. We had ample, ample time to...

Enjoy a sumptous pizza lunch at Papa John's in Times Square. The longggg wait for the food was worthwhile cos the pizza was amazing. Cheesy and with top notch ingredients. The pastry was so good, it remained just as yummy and fresh when the pizza got cold; unlike that in Pizza Hut where it gets all chewy and hard. The breadsticks were awesome too. And the pastry tasted super with the accompanying cheese garlic butter dip. Definitely a must-go for the cozy ambience and quality Italian pizza;

Shop about in Times Square. Huixin bought a ton of clothing and SP bought shampoos and tops. Oh! I had like the worst (and cheapest) pearl milk tea there. The pearls were so soft and not chewy like normal, the milk tea was of the right consistency but it tasted oddly like incense, I think. So I reckoned that they used really low grade and cheap jasmine tea mixed with the normal tea to create this ultimate disaster. Its cheap cos its only RM2.30, cheaper than the BEST in Miri by 20sen. But my policy is to finish up my food anyhow, so I finished the drink in about 10 minutes, all the while trying to ignore the funny smell;

Shop about in Pavillion. Ah! I've always loved Pavillion. And there were CNY deco outside the mall already! This time, I remembered that I brought my camera so we took some pictures outside the mall before going in. Oh, Huixin and SP bought a pair of flats each from Cotton On;

Walk a 10-15 minute walk to KLCC. I was surprised that KLCC was actually that near to Pavillion. It really saved us the travelling money and time! Plus, with company, the walk seemed shorter than what it should be. After we were done with KLCC, Huixin and SP still had about 45 mins to board their train. What efficient time management! *proud*

So we boarded the LRT back to Sentral, where they tapao-ed McD for dinner inside the train. After that, we said goodbye and I headed back to Bangsar...

************************

to the next outing - Dinner at Sakae Sushi, Bangsar Village II and desserts at Baskin Robbins with Joyin and Adeline!

Only returned back to my place at 9.30p.m. Phew.

Overall, it was a fun-filled (but tiring) day. Its always good to have a girls day out, especially a guilt-free one post-assignment. And I was so proud that I managed to exercise plenty of self-control in not shopping much! *gives self a congratulatory pat on the shoulder*

Pictures!

Huixin and Sooi Pheng.

And I.

Droolworthy Papa John's!

Huixin, do that again sometime?

p/s: Fiona, I found another Citrus in BVII!

Wake up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy :P

I woke up considerably early this morning.

Made a mental note to self, class 1230p.m., lunch 11.45a.m.

Washed up.

Did some chores (changed the bedsheet, folded the laundry, swept the floor, empty the bin etc.)

After all the work, I went to the bathroom, intending to wash my hands and brush my teeth.

Turned on the tap, expecting water to run.

To my utter horror, there was not even a trickle of water!

Thought to self: HOW TO SHOWER AND BRUSH TEETH?!! I've got class later, so AT LEAST I've gotta brush my teeth!!!

So turned on "tune-off mode" and tried to be positive water supply would come back. In time.

It did. After 30 minutes.

Had a quick but thorough shower. Had to do exfoliating another day, in case water supply cuts off again. Pfft.

Showered, dressed, ate a banana for breakfast.

Turned on the laptop.

Saw that battery is low, so connect it to the charger.

After 5 minutes of using laptop, noticed that the table fan slowly stopped its rotation.

Thought to self: WHAT?? Now, electricity?! What sort of game is this?!

And laptop battery was hardly charged. I really need to use it.

Once again, turned on "tune-off mode", but had to try much harder this time.

Contemplated hibernating the laptop for the next minute.

At the same time, electricity returned.

Relieved. And pissed at the same time with the WONDERFUL facilities provided by the expensive Residence.

That summed up my Saturday morning.

Things went uphill after my hearty Prosperity Burger lunch before class.

:)

Oh, my.

The internet connection in my place has been insanely lame for the past week so I could not even open blogger. So, apologies for the lack of updates!

I'm back in KL now. Safe. Sound. Busy. Stressed!

Two very important events will keep me busy down to the very week that I go home for CNY.

Firstly, company law assignment will be due 22nd Jan. *hyperventilates*

Secondly, legal debate will commence on 6th Feb!

My group will be the very first one up. Just my luck.

Among so many other groups, why do WE have to be the first one up? I need precedent. I need to witness how it is actually like first. I need all my other concerns answered. GAH!

And on the day itself, I would need to be rid of the possible occurences of "butterflies in my stomach" or "shaky voice" for being the first group up. My opponents are not exactly easy people too. *gulps*

Hence my conclusion, everyone has to go through it in the end. At least I'll be done with debate before CNY. I could go home with less weight on my shoulders and can bake my CNY goodies in peace, without the thought of a possible assignment + debate clash that might happen to my other friends.
Plus, I wouldn't say no to the 4 marks that I'll get for just attending all the other debates. Haha.

Ah, writing this actually makes me feel better.

Anyway, to happier things I shall divulge.

*******************

Had a Midvalley outing last Friday with Marie who came back from US for a short holiday. We went to Delicious where I had this amazing pasta dish called Napolicious. Its angel-hair in a thick, creamy tomato-based sauce with beef bacon. Yummy to the last bite! I was also happy to find out that Delicious has upgraded their menu with new and exciting additions. Seriously, it's about time. We then went to Italiannies to have my favourite dessert, Tiramisu.

We also visited the Chocolate Expo, which was a huge disappointment, really. The place was small and claustrophobia-inducing, chocolate selection was mediocre, publicity in the Mall was bad. To think it was even advertised in AirAsia's inflight magazine as one of the must-go events in SEA for January!

All in all, the best part of the outing would be good old catching up and hanging out la, what with the little chances we have. Its too bad we didn't take pictures. I forgot I brought my camera! -_-

I'll be meeting up with Huixin at Bukit Bintang next Friday for a retail therapy session. Am excited about that although I seriously have to stop shopping so much. It'll be the perfect "completion-of-assignment" treat, nevertheless.

To conclude this post, the coming Jan-Feb will be one heck of a beginning of 2010 for me.

Wish me luck!
